A Biography of this Business Student - Part One

A short biography of me is probably the only effective way to start this blog. My name is Nick, and I’m from the Midwest. I grew up in a “big city,” according to Dakota Territory standards, of 30,000. I’m currently a freshman at a fairly well esteemed business school, but I’ll discuss that later. Let’s start with how I arrived here today….

As a child, I was always fascinated with being rich, having a lot cool junk, and other typical greedy, American dreams. It was only a matter of time until I discovered that I wanted to be a business type person. During the countless career exploration programs my grade school counselors put on, I always favored which ever job happened to have the highest salary and greatest future demand. It was just natural. While others wanted to be doctors, firemen, professional athletes, and secret agents, I wanted “to make money.” Classy, I know.

So around fifth grade I think is the time I knew I would be a business man since I was smart, good at math, and greedy.

More importantly, a little while later, I was introduced to Rich Dad Poor Dad by my father. After he read it over the course of several weeks, I devoured the book in a matter of days. This book presented a career path that was everything I had ever imagined. Robert Kiyosaki showed me that there is a way of life that would allow me to be rich, lazy, and happy all at the same time. Basically, his suggested business/life plan is as follows:

Even though I happened to have one of my greatest “AHA” moments in my life during 5th grade-ish, I was really just a normal kid. I was a great athlete, a better student, and just a perfect kid pretty much. Into high school I continued on this path of being an acclaimed 4.0, valedictorian, and star basketball and tennis player. It was never really that difficult though. Pretty much anybody in my position could’ve done it.

In my next installment, I’ll finish out my short bio with my college selection process and where I am at right now.
